Mightier

But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,
mightier than the breakers on the shore—
the Lord above is mightier than these! – Psalm 93:4

Whether you’re in the middle of a raging sea, or whether you're on a stormy shore. Whether you feel like you’re being tossed to and fro with no land in sight, or whether you’re safely on shore listening to the echoes of a distant storm playing over and over in your mind. Whether you're in the middle of it now, or whether the echoes of a past pain are revisiting you and lapping up against your memory. You need to know; God is mightier than these.

He is mightier than your feelings, your failures, your regret. He's mightier when you're in the middle of your struggle and He's mightier when you've gone through it and the troubling thoughts still echo on the shores or your heart.

God is mightier and He will see you through the pain; past and present.

For we have a promise: oh death, where is your sting? Yes, death still stings, but do not feel betrayed by the promise. For this promise is to a future time when death will no longer apply its power; a time when the pain and troubles of our past will no longer lap the shores of our memory. For now, loss threatens and delivers on its promise of loneliness. But God is mightier, and His promise for us will come one day when we arrive on the heavenly shores and leave this storm called life behind.

And then we will say,

“Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

Then, we will see the fulfillment and finality of God’s comfort. Until then, though, know that not only is He with you, but He is also above every storm and He is mightier.
